Featured Van: Rosie’s Nissan Caravan Campervan Conversion

A cosy live-in camper inspired by Quirky Campers

Rosie came to us with a clear vision: a high-roof van with a soft, welcoming interior she could comfortably live in if needed — more cottage than camper. After weighing up her options between Hiace and Transit models, she settled on a Nissan Caravan with just enough extra width and headroom to give her that essential sense of space.

The inspiration? Quirky Campers – with their blend of handcrafted finishes, thoughtful touches, and personality-rich interiors. Rosie didn’t want plastic trims or cold surfaces. She wanted a rolling retreat — one that felt like home.

The brief: soft greens, warm wood and eco-friendly choices

Rosie was hands-on from day one. She opted for a soft sage green colour palette, timber-look ceiling and walls, and bamboo-style vinyl flooring — all chosen to keep the interior airy, natural, and calming.

A big part of the design focus was on eco-conscious materials, including Greenstuf non-toxic insulation. Her wishlist also included:

  • A wooden benchtop with a hinged drop-down extension
  • A three-burner Dometic gas hob
  • Soft furnishings in custom fabric — no grey in sight
  • A solar power system for off-grid capability
  • A layout that could support a rear shower awning down the track

Light, functional, and full of custom touches

The kitchen area is anchored by a timber benchtop and finished with thoughtful details like push-to-open drawers and concealed storage. A Fiamma powdered fan helps manage airflow on warmer days, while insulation throughout the van keeps things comfortable year-round.

Cooling and food storage are handled by an Iceco fridge/freezer, and lighting is soft and integrated. The layout remains adaptable and minimal, leaving Rosie with plenty of room to personalise and settle in for extended stays.

Built for quiet power

This van doesn’t just look calm — it’s set up to run smoothly off-grid too. A 240 Ah battery system feeds the 12 V and 240 V power needs, with shore power access when needed. Rooftop solar keeps the system topped up, and everything is wired cleanly behind the scenes to preserve the peaceful interior feel.
