The Pargo PCR50 is a compact 50L upright compressor fridge freezer made for campervan, motorhome and caravan kitchens. At just 53cm tall, it fits neatly under a benchtop in most van builds.

It runs on 12V or 24V DC, so it wires straight into your house battery, and its compressor cooling holds temperatures from 10°C down to -18°C. A fridge and freezer in one unit means fresh food and frozen goods in a single cabinet space. The 40W draw is gentle on your solar and lithium setup, and the ABS body stands up to life on the road.

Why it works in a van build

  • Upright built-in design, 53cm H × 38cm W × 49cm D
  • Runs on 12V or 24V DC, so it suits campervans, motorhomes, caravans and trucks
  • Removable freezer box: take it out to use the full 50L as fridge space
  • LED interior light
  • Left-hinged door (hinge on the left when facing the fridge), so plan your cabinet layout around it
  • 40W draw keeps the load low for off-grid setups
  • CB, CE and GS certified, with a 1-year warranty

People are asking

How much battery do I need to run a 12V fridge?

The PCR50 draws 40W, which is about 3.3A at 12V while the compressor is running. Compressor fridges cycle on and off, so real-world use is usually around 30–40Ah per day. It runs higher in summer, with frequent door opening, or in a poorly ventilated cabinet. A 100Ah lithium battery with solar or a DC-DC charger will run it comfortably for multi-day trips off-grid.

Can I run this fridge on 240V mains power?

Not directly. The PCR50 is a 12V/24V DC fridge. To run it on mains at a campground or at home, plug it into a 240V-to-12V power supply rated for at least the fridge’s 40W draw. Most van builds simply run it off the house battery and keep that charged from shore power with a battery charger.

Can I run the fridge while driving?

Yes. Because it’s a 12V compressor fridge, it runs the same whether you’re parked or on the move. Wire it to your house battery and fit a DC-DC charger, and your alternator will top the battery up while you drive.

Does a 12V fridge need ventilation?

Yes. The compressor and condenser on the back of the fridge give off heat, so they need airflow to work efficiently. When building it into a cabinet, leave a gap behind and around the fridge and add vents so warm air can escape. Poor ventilation makes the compressor run longer and use more power.
