What does a low voltage disconnect do?

It monitors your house battery and automatically disconnects loads when the voltage drops to a preset level, preventing the deep discharge that permanently damages AGM and lead-acid batteries or triggers a lithium battery's protection shutdown.

Where does a low voltage disconnect fit in my electrical system?
