The Victron Energy Phoenix Smart 12V/2000VA pure sine wave inverter — 2000VA of clean 230V power from your 12V battery, with built-in Bluetooth for smartphone configuration and monitoring. The high-output standalone inverter for serious campervan and motorhome builds.

Benefits:

• 2000VA pure sine wave output — handles most 230V appliances including induction cookers

• Built-in Bluetooth — configure ECO mode, alarms and voltage settings via VictronConnect app

• High peak surge capacity — handles startup spikes from motors and power tools

• ECO mode — minimises battery drain at idle with fast wake-on-load

• Slim full-metal casing — durable, professional-looking installation

• NZ/AU 230V outlet

Features:

The Phoenix Smart 2000VA is a standalone pure sine wave inverter — it converts 12V battery power into mains-quality 230V AC. At 2000VA (approximately 1600W continuous), it runs induction cookers, hair dryers, power tools, and all sensitive electronics without compromise. Built-in Bluetooth connects to the free VictronConnect app for full configuration: ECO mode threshold (standby power), low-voltage alarm and shutdown, output frequency, and monitoring. ECO mode reduces idle draw by entering standby when no load is present. For a combined inverter, battery charger and transfer switch in one unit, see the MultiPlus C 12/2000. The Phoenix Smart 2000VA is a standalone inverter only — it does not charge your battery from shore power.

For a combined 2000VA inverter and 80A charger in one unit, see the MultiPlus C 12/2000. For a smaller standalone inverter, see the Phoenix Smart 1600VA. Monitor your battery with a SmartShunt 500A. For full installation in NZ, see our inverter installation service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What appliances can I run from a 2000VA pure sine wave inverter?

At 2000VA (approximately 1600W continuous, with a higher peak surge rating), the Phoenix Smart 2000VA runs portable induction cookers (typically 1000–2000W), hair dryers, power tools, toasters, coffee machines, electric blankets, and all electronics and sensitive equipment. It's the most capable standalone Phoenix inverter for a 12V system and suits most full-time van life appliance loads.

How much battery do I need for a 2000VA inverter?

A 2000VA inverter can draw up to 170A from a 12V battery at full load. To support this without excessive voltage sag, a lithium battery bank of 200Ah or more is recommended — preferably 300–400Ah for comfortable all-day use. Lithium handles high current draws better than lead-acid. See our lithium battery upgrade service for a complete setup.

What is the difference between the Phoenix Smart and the MultiPlus for a van build?

The Phoenix Smart 2000VA is a standalone inverter — it produces 230V AC from your battery but cannot charge the battery from shore power. The MultiPlus C 12/2000 adds an 80A battery charger and automatic transfer switch, so when you plug into shore power at a campsite it both charges your battery and powers your appliances — and switches back to inverter mode when you unplug. For most serious van builds, the MultiPlus is the more capable choice.
