The Truma UltraRapid is the most popular hot water system in the NZ campervan and motorhome market — and for good reason. It runs on gas, 240V, or both simultaneously, heats 14L to 65°C in as little as 28 minutes in mixed mode, and installs quickly with JG push-in plumbing connections. All fittings included.

Features:
The Truma UltraRapid HWS is the next generation of Truma's proven Boiler range, with improved heating power, improved corrosion resistance, and a modern black design. The stainless steel 14L tank handles pump pressures up to 2.8 bar (40 PSI) — compatible with all Seaflo and submersible pump setups. Electronic control system and overpressure valve are built in for safety. Temperature adjustable from 60-70°C via the included control unit. Gas consumption: 96g/h at full output. 2-year Truma warranty.

Gas connection must be installed by a licensed gasfitter. 240V connection requires a registered electrician. Vanlifer can arrange full installation at our Auckland workshop.

Does this water heater need to be installed by a gasfitter?

Yes. The gas connection must be installed and certified by a licensed gasfitter in New Zealand — this is a legal requirement for any LPG appliance connection. The 240V electrical connection also requires a registered electrician. The JG push-in fittings make the plumbing side simple, but the gas and electrical connections must be done by the appropriate tradespeople. Vanlifer can arrange full installation at our Auckland workshop.

How long does it take to heat water?

From approximately 20°C to 65°C takes around 45 minutes on gas only, 40 minutes on 240V only, or just 28 minutes in mixed mode running both simultaneously. The 14L tank provides enough hot water for a shower and dishes. The excellent insulation retains heat well so subsequent use after the initial heat-up is faster.

Can I run it on gas only without a 240V connection?

Yes. The Truma runs on gas only, 240V only, or both at the same time. Gas-only mode is ideal for freedom camping away from shore power, while 240V-only suits powered campsites where you want to conserve gas. Mixed mode gives the fastest heat-up time and is useful when demand is high or you need hot water quickly.
