The SmartShunt is Victron's display-free battery monitor — it uses your smartphone as the interface via built-in Bluetooth and the free VictronConnect app. Accurate state-of-charge tracking, no separate display to mount, and all the data you need right in your pocket.

Benefits:

• Built-in Bluetooth — connect directly to VictronConnect app, no display or dongle needed

• Accurate state-of-charge, remaining time and amp-hour tracking via 300A shunt

• Auxiliary input — monitor a second battery voltage, midpoint voltage or temperature

• VE.Direct port — integrates with Cerbo GX for full system monitoring

• Compact — no display unit to find space for in your van

• Works with all battery chemistries including lithium (LiFePO4)

Features:

The SmartShunt 300A is a clutter-free alternative to the BMV battery monitors. By eliminating the physical display, the SmartShunt is smaller and easier to install in tight campervan and motorhome builds. All monitoring happens in the free VictronConnect app on your phone — state-of-charge percentage, remaining runtime, historical data, and battery health metrics. The auxiliary input can be configured to monitor a second battery voltage (e.g. starter battery), midpoint voltage in a series battery string, or battery temperature with an optional sensor. VE.Direct port connects to a Cerbo GX for whole-system remote monitoring via Victron's free VRM portal. Suitable for 12V, 24V, and 48V systems.

For higher current capacity (larger battery banks), see the SmartShunt 500A. If you prefer a dedicated display panel, see the BMV-712 (with Bluetooth) or BMV-700. Pair with a Victron SmartSolar controller for a complete solar monitoring setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the SmartShunt and the BMV-700/712?

The core measurement accuracy is the same. The key difference is the display: the BMV-712 and BMV-700 include a physical round display that mounts in your van dashboard. The SmartShunt has no display — you monitor everything via the VictronConnect app on your phone. If you want a permanent at-a-glance panel readout, choose the BMV. If you prefer a cleaner install without an extra panel cutout, choose the SmartShunt.

How accurate is the SmartShunt's state-of-charge reading?

Very accurate — the SmartShunt uses a precision 300A/50mV shunt to measure current in and out of the battery continuously, integrating over time to calculate a running amp-hour count. Accuracy depends on correct initial calibration (battery capacity, charged voltage, charge efficiency factor) set in VictronConnect. Once configured, drift is minimal and the reading is far more reliable than voltage-based state-of-charge estimates.

Does the SmartShunt 300A suit my lithium battery?

Yes — the SmartShunt fully supports lithium (LiFePO4) batteries. Set the correct battery capacity and charge efficiency factor (typically 0.99 for lithium) in VictronConnect. The 300A rating suits most campervan lithium systems up to 300Ah; for larger banks drawing more than 300A peak, see the SmartShunt 500A.
